Usually left at the back of the stage, dribbling into their pint and making monkey noises, drummers don't get the best of reputations but I'm hoping I can break the mould. I come from quite a musical family, thanks to my dad who was a session drummer for many bands in his youth and is now an exceptional blues guitar player. Because of his and my older brother's influence I became heavily involved in music from a young age and have an extremely wide palette when it comes to my musical tastes. I've never drummed one particular style; although most of my years I've mainly listened to rock music I have always had hip-hop, reggae and break beat influences to the way I play. During my late teens I found myself in a strange place, being broke and unemployed. This gave me some serious time to practice things I never bothered with before and I found myself combining two of my passions together, rhythm and the English language! These two interests, coupled with an anti-social attitude created a skill I am now finally able to put into good use: my ability to drop rhymes! I'll say no more, just listen... Peace! |
